Making a Bed Can Take Ages

Eight-year-old Kyle Ramsey has spent the past 14 weeks sleeping on the floor after MFI failed to deliver his new bed on four different occasions.

Now, thanks to Direct Line, the youngster can look forward to sleeping in luxury in less than two weeks - and his parents Fred and Marion have been compensated for the inconvenience.

The couple, from Walker, ordered the pounds 99 single bed from MFI in North Shields on May 20 and were given a delivery date of June 25.

Two days before it was due to arrive, Mr Ramsey got rid of his son's old bed.

"Bulky rubbish is collected on our street on a Monday and the new bed was due on the Wednesday," he explained.

But that afternoon the couple received a call from MFI explaining that only part of the bed would be delivered and the head board, foot board and all the screws would not be ready before July 7.

On July 5 we were contacted again to say there was yet another problem and delivery would be August 6, then it was switched to August 27. …
