Elain Dodds is the conference sales manager at De Vere Slaley Hall.

She has been promoted whilst the director of sales and marketing is on maternity leave so is looking forward to the challenge her new role will bring.

6.45am: Get up and have breakfast before driving 40 minutes to work.

8.15am: Arrive in the office prior to most staff and enjoy the peace and quiet before the telephones start to ring. Catch up on hotel sales figures and revenue reports from the previous day and night.

9.15am: Attend head of departments meeting with other department managers and discuss business for the day, function requirements, VIP guests, PR visitors and golf course clients.

9.30am: Catch up on emails. Deal with forthcoming hotel business and any special requests for clients - in the past these have included organising firework displays, helicopter trips, marquees, VIP guests such as Ronan Keating singing at a wedding, accommodating the England team and looking after Westlife. …
