Middlesbrough's Aussie bar and restaurant Walkabout has re-jigged its menu to woo Teesside's pie fans.

Vili's Sportsman's Pie is a firm favourite in homes and sports stadiums across Oz, apparently.

Now it's here" and they'll have to be good, because Teessiders know their pies!

Basically the posh pie is a minced beef pie with a golden, flaky pastry crust...nothing so unusual. But the secret ingredient is its peppery seasoning.

Our food and drink testers tried it for size - it comes as a 'starter' portion for pounds 3.80 at Walkabout.

Some starter - the pie might be palm-sized but it's big on flavour and comes with a mountain of seasoned chips. A brilliant-value comfort lunch, we reckoned.

The rest of the Walkabout menu has been revamped too but still with a wacky Aussie twist - for instance you can have a mountain peppered kangaroo wrap.

If you're starving, then new platters have been added to the menu - the 'wrap it up' consists of mini crispy chicken wraps, fire-roasted corn on the cob, wedges, garlic bread, crackers and dips - all for pounds 8. …
