Quick, think back to the 1970s, or what you can remember of them. What's the first image that comes to mind?

John Travolta in that white Saturday Night Fever suit, right?

But there was so much more going on during that turbulent decade. Watergate. The Godfather. Archie Bunker. Leisure suits. Gas rationing. Vietnam protests. Saturday Night Live's Not Ready for Primetime Players. Disaster movies. Charlie's Angels. The Bicentennial. The Fonz. The list goes on and on.

At 9 tonight, cable music network VH1 will launch a prequel to its addictive series I Love the '80s, when I Love the '70s debuts.

To celebrate the decade of lava lamps and bell bottoms, we've compiled our ideas of the best and worst of the '70s.
