Bowyer's Goal Is to Hit Double Figures for Toon

Lee Bowyer makes his home debut for Newcastle United in Saturday's high noon showdown with Manchester United with goals very much on his mind.

For the England international has set himself a target of hitting double figures in his first season at St James's Park.

While he did not find the net in his six-month stint at West Ham, Bowyer has always come up with vital goals throughout the rest of his career - he has 69 to his name with Charlton Athletic and Leeds United.

And the 26-year-old midfielder told me today: "I am looking to get 10 goals this season and I feel I am capable of doing that."

Bowyer is due a goal, his last coming at the end of October when he scored in Leeds United's 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough at the Riverside.

And as he prepares for Saturday's mega clash, Bowyer will not need remembering his last encounter with Manchester United. …
