The top two clash in the Wearside League as New Marske go to fellow sprint starters North Shields.

The duo have had impressive unbeaten starts and both have 14 points from their six games so far and Shields lead on goals alone.

Now, after a gentle opening programme that has pitted them against some of the early strugglers, it is an interesting test of revamped New Marske's title credentials.

They travel to Shields' Ralph Gardner Park boosted by a 5-3 midweek win over Ferryhill. They are full of confidence, strengthened by the return of Stephen Hodgson and Richie Booth.

Stokesley are in third spot and only a single point behind the leaders, so will be waiting to take advantage of any slips.

Ted Watts' side have won four games in a row, including a 6-0 midweek away demolition of Barnard Castle Glaxo, and they are buzzing but they too face a tough test tomorrow.

The high-flying outfit travel to the swanky International Stadium to face impressive new boys Gateshead Reserves, who are just one point and two places behind them. …
