Business School Has Advice for Croatians

Business experts from Croatia are travelling to Durham this weekend to learn how to regenerate their small businesses.

The four-day visit will concentrate on a series of business workshops run by Durham University Business School's Biz-KIT programme that have benefited hundreds of owners and managers in the North-East.

The Biz-KIT team and visitors will work together to tweak the syllabus of the workshops to make them as useful as possible for the Croatian business scene.

Then the Croatians will return home to run what is in effect a localised version of the Biz-KIT programme for business people and to help attract young graduates to work in SMEs.

The visit is part of a contract won by Biz-KIT to introduce the knowledge and expertise of one of Britain's leading business schools to a country that has for years suffered from war and serious economic hardship.

"It is extremely exciting to be involved in a project that has the potential to make such a fundamental difference to a country," said Biz-KIT's Dean Maragh. …
