IF Lagos Airport ever needs a makeover they should call in Jasper Conran. The British designer choose the Nigerian terminal as the inspiration for his latest collection transforming the London Fashion Week tent on the Duke of York Barracks on the King's Road.

Supermodels Naomi Campbell and Alec Wek headed a mainly black cast to show off Conran's African odyssey that mixed floaty print chiffons with tough leather, fluid silk jersey and intricate macrame in a muted pallet of cream, black and coffee.

Conran is making a bit of a comeback of late. His last collection was one of the unexpected hits of last season and his ranges for Debenhams - including womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, jeans and even homewear have made him one of our biggest selling designers.

Conran's catwalk shows are icing on the cake of his lucrative empire but quite what his well heeled clients will make of his more outre take on the African theme is anyone's guess. …
