Jenas Is Rapped over Silly Errors

Sir Bobby Robson branded Jermaine Jenas `silly' after last night's agonising 3-2 defeat by Arsenal at Highbury.

But the Newcastle United boss told his 20-year-old midfielder that if he learns from it he can go on to be a "brilliant, brilliant player".

Jenas conceded an 80th- minute penalty with an unnecessary handling offence which saw Arsenal pick up a victory they hardly deserved.

And this came hard on the heels of United's last away game at Goodison Park when Jenas was conned into fouling Everton striker Tomasz Radzinski two minutes from time, costing his side victory.

Jenas, of course, started his season with that casual penalty miss in the final of the Asia Cup in that shoot- out in Kuala Lumpur which infuriated Robson.

Jenas turned down the chance to speak to the media after last night's game as he was so distraught.

But a clearly upset Robson told me: "That was silly of JJ - you just can't do that. …
