Fad's Not Bad , Says Moyes of Star Man

David Moyes reckons he has got another gem on his hands - just like Wayne Rooney.

And the Everton chief even suggested new boy James McFadden is ahead of the England striker in his progress to the top.

McFadden had an outstanding full debut for Everton in their 4-0 mauling of Leeds.

He took centre stage on the day Rooney was rested by Moyes.

And the Goodison Park boss insists he will continue with that policy and that McFadden could well play more games than his higher-profile teammate this term.

Moyes said: "Wayne will be given rests, like we did this time. All the young lads will have that.

"James has had more than 100 games for Motherwell, he had his first cap when we signed him and he is further down the line than Wayne.

"They are not similar off the pitch, but they are on it."

Moyes added: "McFadden was terrific, there was so much good coming from him.

"He reminds me of the late David Cooper from Rangers, there was so many similar things about him. …
