Family and friends are hoping for the safe return of a pregnant Georgia Southern University graduate student who has been missing for two weeks.

Ardena "Dena" Marie Carter, 24, has not been seen since Sept. 11 after a co-worker dropped her off at her apartment complex in Statesboro, according to Statesboro police.

Carter, who is six months pregnant, told friends she was going to walk to the library.

One of Carter's professors contacted Carter's mother in Los Angeles after Carter didn't attend classes. Her mother then reported her missing to Statesboro police.

Friends are distributing fliers to spread the word.

Carter lived alone in her apartment. Her boyfriend and the father of her child does not live in Statesboro, said Barbara Mosley, Carter's friend and the administrator at Carter's church, the Agape Worship Center.

"It's just not like her to disappear," Mosley said. "She was the type who always made sure someone knew where she was."

Detectives say they have no leads, but also have no evidence to suspect foul play.
