Service Network Aims to Help the Sector Prosper

This has been the single most exciting year for Service Network and the service industry that I can remember.

We have gone a long way towards putting the North-East service sector on the map and I feel confident that the regional development agency, One NorthEast, and other key regional stakeholders all now recognise that the professional and business service sector is a vital part of the North-East economy.

Perhaps the most significant achievement this year has been our commitment to create 400 new jobs and 100 new businesses in the sector over the next two years. These targets have been set as part of our strategy for strengthening the professional and business service sector in the North- East and will be delivered with a number of regional partners, led by us.

Yet since we were established in 1996, Service Network has also built a solid reputation for excellence in event organisation and networking that has attracted first class companies of all sizes. These events have led to numerous new business wins for our members. In one case this year, it led to a multi-million pound deal being signed.

Ultimately, our role is to help the sector win more business and the strategy will go a long way towards doing that. Hence, the Service Network flagship annual conference on October 24, which will see the launch of our Winning Business campaign. As we move into 2004, you will see more events, initiatives and collaborative ventures facilitated by Service Network, designed to directly help service companies win bigger, more lucrative and more sustainable clients.

Winning business is important to all of us. It enables us to fulfil our aims and ambitions for the future, demonstrates that we are offering a high quality service to our customers and that we are competitive in the marketplace. …
