There have been some big North-east derbies in the past - but Saturday's game at the Riverside is bigger than most.

Boro need to get back into the groove and they need to win it.

It will be tight, and it will be hard like all derbies, but we have to take our chances to win the points.

And it doesn't matter how we do it.

We played some great stuff in the second half against Chelsea.

It was a great performance.

But it's not much use to you if you don't win the game.

I don't care how we play on Saturday as long as we win.

The lads will still be on a high after the second half against Chelsea, so they won't need any motivating.

People talk about there being nerves in these games, but we're not playing in Turkey.

We will have 30,000 people behind us on Saturday and the players should be thrilled at the prospect of playing in front of them.

And we'll send the fans home happy if we can out-shoot the Magpies.

Let's face it, neither side has been effective in front of goal so far this season.

Newcastle's best result came in Europe.

Their only win in the Premiership was against Southampton, and then they struggled.

In fact, Alan Shearer is the only player to score for them, outside of the match at Arsenal.

I don't want to tempt fate by saying that, and then see Craig Bellamy get one.

But all successful teams rely on great goalscorers and Newcastle have got only Shearer doing it at the moment.

It's a sign that the Magpies are not in the best of shapes.

It's up to us to take advantage.

Obviously we're only one point above them in the Premiership.

I didn't expect to find either side in the bottom four at this stage, but they're both there on merit.

The league table doesn't lie.

The good thing is that both sides have a lot of talented players, and you would expect them to climb away. …
