ENGLAND, dealing with the temporary loss of Will Greenwood, received some good news last night when Lawrence Dallaglio was cleared of punching South Africa's Thinus Delport during their World Cup match in Perth.

Dallaglio avoided a potential ban when Gethin Jenkins, the independent citing officer, ruled Dallaglio's reaction to having a hand shoved in his face, did not constitute foul play. Greenwood arrives back in London today to be with wife Caro who is expecting their baby.

She has been admitted to hospital as a precaution following last year's loss of their son Frederick, who died after being born

prematurely. Greenwood, who scored the only try in England's crucial 25-6 victory against the Springboks.

He said: "It was tough but Caro wanted me to stay and play. Her mum was was with her and I was on constant contact with them all. There was nothing I could do .Yes, it was difficult to play."

The Harlequins centre has an open return date with head coach Clive Woodward pencilling in next week as the earliest possible flight back. …
