A man told a court yesterday how an armed gang stormed into his home and attempted to kill three people.

Nathaniel Wheatley told Teesside Crown Court how the triple stabbing took place after the gang burst into his Middlesbrough home. Two women and a man were seriously injured and needed lifesaving surgery after the "vicious" knife attack, the court heard.

Mr Wheatley, who lived at the Albany Street house with his girlfriend, told the court that a man he knew knocked at the door. As he marched in, he was followed by seven or eight others carrying weapons, he said.

While most of them stormed into the living room, Mr Wheatley said: "One lad kept me at the front door."

The self-confessed drug addict then told the jury that he heard shouting and screaming before the gang left. Three people who had come to visit him at the house suffered serious stab wounds.

Four men and a woman are on trial at Teesside Crown Court accused of three counts of attempted murder. …
