A 'whowunnit' mystery has emerged over a Californian holiday prize which has sat unclaimed for almost two weeks.

Fundraisers at Teesside Hospice are baffled that the lucky winner has not stepped forward to claim a week for two in California.

The holder of ticket 230962 left a surname and a mobile phone number - but all attempts to contact them have failed.

Events co-ordinator Sarah Dawson said: "It's exciting. There's somebody out there who's won a holiday and they don't know about it.

"We just want them to come forward and claim the prize."

The luxury trip is the second prize in this year's Teesside Hospice Grand Draw, which was drawn in the Cleveland Shopping Centre on Saturday October 11, and raised almost pounds 21,000.

The other top prizes - a two-week Caribbean cruise, a Rhine cruise and trips to Disneyland Paris, Amsterdam and London - have been claimed but head of fundraising Margaret Kent, said the holiday is scheduled for about five months' time and it was imperative the ticket holder came forward as soon as possible. …
