Council to Be Listed Building`s New Tenant

The grade II-listed Lambton House in Sunderland has been let to the City of Sunderland at pounds 9 per sq ft.

GL Hearn, on behalf of Sunniside Properties, has let the 7,500 sq ft converted and air-conditioned office space to the council on a ten-year lease.

The building, on High Street West close to the new east ring road, will house the youth offenders support service section of the city council's social services department.

City of Sunderland is the first tenant following the conversion of the former pub which was completed at the end of September.

The building was previously vacant for four years after ceasing to trade. Built around 1820, it was originally the Sunderland home of Lord Lambton on his visits to the city.

GL Hearn advised Sunniside Properties and City of Sunderland acted for itself.

Meanwhile, GVA Grimley, acting on behalf of clients of Credit Suisse Asset Management, has acquired Sandgate House on Newcastle Quayside. …
