Geordie legend Sir John Hall is back in business with an incredible plan for a pounds 500 million business park, creating 15,000 jobs.

Ten years after taking early retirement the property tycoon and former Newcastle United chief has returned to spearhead the Wynyard Business Park, in County Durham.

Sir John already has outline planning permission to transform a huge swathe of gently rolling countryside into what he predicts will be one of the finest industrial centres in Europe.

Detailed plans will be unveiled before Christmas for the first half of the awe-inspiring development and building work should begin in the Spring.

The scale of the project is simply breath-taking but then the man who created Gateshead's MetroCentre has a reputation for pulling off the sensational.

Wynyard Business Park will be almost the size of Team Valley Estate, in Gateshead and consist of a series of high quality buildings which will nestle in a beautiful landscape of hills, trees and lakes.

"This is about creating something a little bit special for the North East," said Sir John.

He is the chairman of the newly-formed Wynyard Business Services which is the result of a partnership between his company Cameron Hall Developments and London-based Industrial Services.

Sir John said: "This area has one of the biggest potentials for growth in the UK and we believe the site has the potential to create 15,000 jobs.

"We are developing a business park which will set new standards for excellence both in design and facilities. Everything will be of the very highest quality.

"The business park is the final part of my vision for the Wynyard development - the timing is now right to complete my dream."

He admits Cameron Hall has gone through a difficult couple of years but the company is now right back on track.

He said: "This will be a rival on a regional level to developments like Newcastle Great Park but on a national and international front it is vital the North East can offer companies this kind of choice. …
