David Hodgson is back in business, and the revolving door at the Reynolds Arena will be turning faster than ever.

"There'll be players in and out, starting next week," said Hodgson, 43, whose wheeling and dealing skills will be even more necessary in his third stint as Darlington manager than in the previous two.

"It's a similar situation financially, though there's no transfer embargo to sort out this time," he said.

He officially took over as manager yesterday, but his appointment was confirmed last week, and he wasted no time in checking out potential signings.

"Money is tight, so I'll be looking at loans, and relying on the goodwill of other clubs," he said.

"But I'm confident we will have two new players when we play Lincoln on Saturday week, though there may be two gone by then.

"There's no point in signing players this week, because they will not be eligible for the FA Cup at Hornchurch on Sunday.

"You cannot build a club on sand, so we'll have to get a firm base in as quickly as we can. …
