Craig Huggins bowled games of 279, 269 and 287 on May 18 for an 835 series in the Sunday Night Mixed League at Jax Lanes Grove Park.

"I was pretty much locked in a zone all night," Huggins said.

He found that zone again in mid-September. Huggins posted three more honor scores, including a 299 game on Sept. 14, a 298 on Sept. 18, and a perfect game on Sept. 25.

The 299 was part of a 771 series in the Sunday Night Mixed League at Jax Lanes Grove Park. The 298 and 300 games were bowled in the LBJ Mixed Scratch League at Cassat/Batt Bowl.

Huggins has four 800-plus series, eight perfect games, seven 299s and one 298.

Area interest

Curt Dreyfus watched the final shot that he set down wide on the lane come back for a strike as he captured the first perfect game of his 20-year career. He rolled games of 198, 235 and 300 for a 733 series in the Guys & Dolls League at Bowl America Orange Park. Daniel Parsons racked up his 10th perfect game recently in the LBJ Scratch League at Cassat/Batt Bowl when he rolled games of 300, 235 and 179 for a 714 series. Greg Aviles III added the first ABC 11 in-a-row award to his accolades when he rolled games of 173, 256 and 290 when he left a solid 10-pin in the first frame for a 719 series in the Commercial Men's League at Bowl America Southside. Lance Minish earned his first ABC honor, the 11 in-a-row award, when he rolled games of 159, 228 and 290 for a 677 series in the Kings & Queens League at Bowl America Southside.

In the spotlight

Gill Hess recently notched the second 299 game of his career as he left a weak 10-pin standing. Hess then added games of 207 and 240 for a 746 series in the Greater Jax Invitational Handicap League at Phoenix Lanes. He has 14 perfect games and a high series of 798 during his 45-year career. He rolled the 798 in the Florida State Championship Tournament, vaulting him to a second-place finish in the doubles event. …
