Episcopal smashed any chance of Maclay winning a seventh 1-1A regional cross country title Saturday at FCCJ North.

In the process, the Eagles won their first regional title in school history.

Episcopal's boys' team took the top three spots en route to a 52-point victory against P.K. Yonge.

Gainesville Oak Hall grabbed the fourth-, fifth- and sixth-place spots in the individual competition en route to a third-place finish.

"This was one of our goals at the start of the season," Episcopal coach Joe McKinney said. "Obviously, next week is our goal."

The top six teams from Saturday, plus the top 15 individuals not on a winning team, will travel to Tampa next week for the state meet.

Maclay, Providence and South Walton also advanced.

Individually, Justin Taylor of St. Joseph Academy and Robert Holstien of St. Johns Country Day also advanced after finishing seventh- and eighth-place, respectively. …
