Protesters against a controversial deal to recycle US ghost ships were today preparing a noisy and rude `unwelcoming party' for the first vessel's arrival.

The ex-Naval reserve vessel was set to arrive off the mouth of the River Tees at around midday.

THE High Court was today giving judgement on a renewed bid by taxi drivers to force bicycle rickshaws to be licensed like black cabs. The Licensed Taxi Drivers Association say the rules should be imposed on the pedicabs "to protect the public".
