A defiant taxi driver is determined not to let yobs force him out.

Les Harper, of South Bank, says for the past two years he's endured a catalogue of vandal attacks to his taxi and his home.

But he's determined not to give in and let the vandals run him out of business.

The vandal attacks have included slashed tyres, smashed windows and his vehicle burned out. Earlier this year his minibus was 'bricked' while police took statements about an earlier attack. His house windows have been smashed and now a window of his taxi smashed.

"It's been going on for the past two years and I've done everything I can," said Mr Harper.

"I've had extra security lighting fitted to my home, and I'm concerned for the safety of my daughter. But people are too frightened to name anyone."

But Mr Harper is one of those prepared to stand up, having appeared as a witness at Teesside Youth Court in July in a case involving a youth charged with breach of an anti-social behaviour order. …
