I thought I was the only person who felt like this. I think that until you're married with children, you always face the danger of reverting back to being a teenager.

If you want to stop this from happening, the answer is to take part in Christmas as an adult. Ask your mum what you can bring; can you do the wine or buy the turkey, for instance?

This will break that cycle of her being the clucking hen over her stroppy chicks.

The other solution is to go away one Christmas. This very quietly sets a standard: you are independent and are not bound to spend your Christmases with your family, but do so because it's what you enjoy doing. Going away probably won't go down as badly with your parents as you might think.

What should I wear on Christmas Day? I want to be beautiful, but comfortable.

The Christmas Day outfit - oooh! The best thing to do is to treat it like a normal day for which you want to look good.

Don't feel that you have to wear a dress - think about wearing a pair of good jeans or trousers and an evening top. If you've got good legs, show them off by wearing a short skirt teamed with a polo neck, for example. Then add some heels, makeup and a bit of jewellery and you'll be fine.

I'm going away for Christmas, and don't want to return to find pine needles on the floor rather than on the tree. When is the best time to put up my tree and is there a delivery service that will bring a tree to my door?
