North Swallows Flock Together

Article excerpt

Swallow Hotels is gearing up to be an even stronger force across the whole region. The group, which runs the Stockton and Newcastle Gateshead sites, has launched a new regional sales team to make the hotels bigger and better.

Working as a team, Swallow's hotels in the region now aim to find the solution to almost any business booking request.

Amanda Jackson, regional sales manager for the North-East, said the new approach to business was already reaping rewards.

"By working together as a region, we can find solutions for customers," she said.

"If an enquiry comes into one of the hotels and it isn't able to deal with it, we will work with the other sites to find an answer.

"It's a new scheme but it's already working. Recently we had an enquiry for a conference for 85 people at the Newcastle Gateshead hotel. It wasn't able to accommodate the booking because of availability but Stockton was. And the clients were delighted with the end result."

The Swallow Hotel at Stockton has 125 bedrooms and is in the heart of the town.

A landmark in the town since 1973, the four-star site has state-of-the-art facilities with a large number of rooms recently refurbished.

All have facilities including satellite TV and modem access for Internet use.

The spacious hotel also has a well- equipped health club with indoor heated pool, sauna, steam room and a gym - which has recently had a full range of new equipment installed.

Stockton has two restaurants, a cocktail bar and a large lounge. There is also free parking for 400 cars. And its banqueting and conference facilities can cope with events ranging in size from two people to 300.

"Stockton is a very popular hotel because of its location, right in the centre of the town, and its high standard of facilities," said Ken Ellington, general manager.

The Newcastle Gate-shead Swallow Hotel has 103 bedrooms and can cater for conferences and events from two to 350 people. …
