A brace from in-form striker Tom Craddock helped Boro Under-17s beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 at Rockliffe Park.

However, the Under-19s were unable to follow suit, losing 3-0 to Forest's East Midlands rivals Derby County.

Craddock is enjoying a fantastic campaign and his two goals for the Under-17s followed a hat-trick against Forest for the Under-19s last month and a goal in the FA Youth Cup win over Fulham two weeks ago.

Boro's other scorer at the weekend was central defender David Wheater who also scored in the 3-0 FA Youth Cup win at the Riverside.

A strong Under-19 side never got out of the traps against Derby at Rockliffe Park and could have no complaints about the result.

Academy director David Parnaby said: "It was a disappointing display by the Under-19s, too many lads had an off-day.

"It was, however, nice to see Tom Craddock's name on the scoresheet for the Under-17s, it was a good win. …
