GIRLS BASKETBALL NOTEBOOK; Wolfson Isn't Getting a Break from Schedule

It's a good thing for Wolfson coach Frank Jenkins that the winter break is coming up. After last week's schedule of Jackson, Bartram Trail and Sandalwood and this week's schedule of Englewood and Ribault, Jenkins and his team will need some time to recuperate.

The Wolfpack lost to Jackson and Bartram Trail, but rebounded to beat Sandalwood in a big way.

Freshman guard Julie Syquio had 37 points, eight rebounds and six steals, while backcourt mate Nicole Brown had 10 assists and nine boards and forward Sierra McKnight added 16 points and 10 rebounds. But the most important aspect of the victory was holding Sandalwood's Tierney Rock, the city's leading scorer last season, to just six points. It was the first time that Wolfson has held Rock to below 20 points, according to Jenkins, and came one game after Wolfson gave up 24 points to Bartram Trail's Steffi Sorenson.

"This sort of schedule will prepare us for the [Gateway] Conference tournament and the City of Rivers tournament," Jenkins said. …
