Boxing enthusiast Danny Small is proving to be a real knockout in his new job, thanks to the help of top training provider TVS Training.

The 18-year-old, of Birtley, is settling into his new role at Jennings Ford after enrolling on an Advanced Modern Apprenticeship in car body repair, funded by the Learning and Skills Council Tyne & Wear.

The lightweight boxer, who trains weekly at boxing in Birtley, joined Jennings Ford on a temporary work placement two years ago, and as a result of his dedication and commitment was offered a full-time position within the firm.

Having completed his Foundation Modern Apprenticeship, Danny decided to add a further string to his bow and is now on track to completing his Advanced Modern Apprenticeship with TVS Training.

"After sitting my GCSEs, I knew that I wanted to work with cars, so I was looking for a practical course," said Danny.

"It was my careers adviser at school who recommended I try the Modern Apprenticeship programme. …
