There was an extremely good quality catalogued entry of 50 cattle for the December Border & Lakeland Club Show and Sale.

The one or two consignors who were not forward will have missed out on an extremely buoyant trade because buyers were astute and respectful of the young cows and heifers present.

The average of over 1,050 gns with a 100pc clear out speaks for itself particularly when one considers Milk Quota was trading at 27.5p per litre that morning at H&H Bowe Ltd.

Top price of 2 000 gns was for a 2nd calved cow by Duncan Progress from the Horizon Helene family. Consigned by Allan and Christine Watson who had recently dispersed their milking portion. The lucky purchaser was Gordon Dent for his noted Greengill Herd.

Another heifer with an awesome pedigree was Logan Sky Marq I from Brian Yates, East Logan, which was sold fresh for 1,800gns to Mr Henderson, East Bowhill, Annan, who has recently been investing in some classy pedigree animals. …
