With much of the UK club scene supposedly in decline, it's always good to see a local night buck the trend.

Since its launch in June, Genre has firmly established itself as one of the main nights in Newcastle, playing host to a number of sought-after stars.

And tonight is no different as US DJ Felix Da Housecat comes to town, promising an early Christmas treat for eager clubbers.

Currently one of the hottest producers on the club scene, his talents have seen him enlisted by Madonna, X-Press 2, New Order and, most recently, P Diddy, who has been putting together his first dance album.

Known, somewhat less glamorously as Felix Stallings to his mum, he grew up in Chicago and was a childhood friend of house legend DJ Pierre.

His teenage years saw him begin experimenting with music and he taught himself keyboards by the age of 14. Just a year later stepped into a studio for the first time.

Developing his house sound, Felix has since released a steady stream of dancefloor smashes on many major imprints, including Strictly Rhythm, Guerilla and Nervous Records. …
