Hundreds of Michael Jackson fans were converging on the California court today where the pop star was appearing on child sex abuse charges.

Jackson, 45, is facing court for the first time since being charged with molesting a teenage cancer survivor at his Neverland Ranch.

He has denied abusing the boy, calling the allegations a big lie.

Jackson was appearing in court in Santa Maria and hundreds of fans have hired buses and caravans to get there. His brother, Jermaine, said: "It is a true testament to Michael and his messages of love that so many people are travelling to support him."

It is estimated that around 600 journalists, producers and television crew members are in Santa Maria to cover the story.

The case has taken a series of twists since November last year when the Neverland ranch, near Santa Barbara, California, was searched by police and Jackson was arrested and later charged.

Soon after his arrest doubts were raised about the credibility of his accuser. …
