DAVID KELLY'S widow today prepared to launch a ferocious counterattack after a leak of the Hutton report portrayed her husband as psychologically unstable.

Janice Kelly and their family met through the night after the Sun dramatically revealed that Lord Hutton will say the weapons expert was difficult to deal with. He was "not an easy man to help or advise", says the report which also accuses him of breaking rules by talking to the BBC.

A close family friend said: "There is no doubt she will see this as dumping on her husband and a total betrayal."

Another friend said Mrs Kelly was ready to speak out and added: "She is a very strong woman, much stronger than some people think, and is determined to have her say."

A spokesman for the family's solicitors, Bircham Dyson Bell, said: "The leak has not come from us.

Hutton will go apoplectic." The BBC also issued a statement this morning denying responsibility for the leak. …
