A front-end loader, dump truck, track hoe and two backhoes were seriously damaged last week when someone drove them into ditches and each other at a construction site at 3020 Hartley Road.

Police said someone apparently had keys to the equipment and the knowledge to drive them between 4 p.m. Jan. 20 and 7 a.m. the next day. One backhoe was driven into a ditch and abandoned, while another was used to lift or push a dump truck on top of a concrete drain box, knocking off its oil pan. The truck's windshield was also smashed with rocks. A bulldozer blade was used to damage the track hoe and a piece of sewer pipe, police said.
