BOYS BASKETBALL; Raines, Ribault to Meet Again Vikings Overpower White, and Trojans Hold off Sandalwood to Set Up Tonight's Gateway Final

The fourth matchup of the year between Northside rivals Raines and Ribault takes place tonight (7:30) when the Class 4A powers meet in the championship game of the Gateway Conference Tournament at the UNF Arena.

The Trojans (20-2, ranked No. 3) and Vikings (21-2, No. 4) tuned up for their second meeting in a week by using their strengths against semifinal opponents Friday night. Raines dominated the boards and used its athleticism to overwhelm White 78-58 with Derwin Kitchen scoring a game-high 23 points. In the opener at UNF, Ribault's defensive pressure shut down Sandalwood in a 56-45 win.

Raines has won two of the three meetings with Ribault this season, but the Trojans won the most recent game 38-37 on its home floor last Saturday. The Vikings won the first two games by 2 and 29 points.

"There's nothing I can tell the kids at this point. They know Raines so well. It's just a matter of going out there and doing their job," Ribault coach Bernard Wilkes said. "They [Raines] are so big and physical."

But that's the type of team that Ribault wants to play, said Trojans guard Willie Sanders.
