Blades Boss Looks for a Birmingham Love Match

Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock hopes to face Birmingham in the sixth round of the FA Cup - for the sake of goalscoring hero Paul Peschisolido.

The Canada international netted the winner in Sunday's 1-0 fifth-round win over Second Division Colchester at Bramall Lane, then promptly put the kiss of death on yesterday's draw.

The 32-year-old made it clear the last team he wanted to face in the last eight was Birmingham as wife Karren Brady is the managing director at St Andrew's.

City must first beat Sunderland in a home replay next Wednesday after Saturday's 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light if Peschisolido's worst fears are to be realised. Peschisolido, who knows he is certain to come in for ribbing from his team-mates if the Blues win through, was yesterday told not to comment by Warnock to avoid being deluged by phone calls.

Instead, Warnock did the talking for his nine-goal striker as he said: "I had a feeling this would be the one we would get ever since he mentioned it on television. …
