Microdermabrasion (MDA) is a term you may have heard of in facial or body treatments. However, few of us really know what its meaning is or what it achieves.

Controlled microdermabrasion (MDA) is a modern technique designed with the help of a gentle mechanical peeling process to improve the skin and specific skin conditions. Since the mid-1980s, it has been used with great success by dermatologists and beauticians for the treatment of skin problems, including scar tissue, pigmentation, abnormalities, acne and ageing.

MDA uses a controlled flow of clean aluminium oxide, sodium oxide and ostosoferric crystals known as Corundum. These crystals are set in motion by a vacuum-created low pressure applied to the skin with a special hand-piece which allows the controlled and gentle removal of dead cells from the horny layer (the outer layer of the epidermis).
