Two financial institutions are on the move in Clay County.

Jax FederalCredit Union is open in its new Orange Park Service Center, located in Suite 17 of the Village Shopping Center at Blanding Boulevard and College Avenue.

"We have been working hard to complete this new location since last fall, and we are very excited for this day to be here," said Gerri Sexsion, credit union president and CEO.

Paula Lang, manager of the new service center, has four other staff members working with her at the new office.

The old Orange Park service center was located in the Kingsley Square Shopping Center.

Jax Federal Credit Union is Jacksonville's largest federally chartered credit union.

Also opening new doors in Clay County is Prosperity Bank.

The new Prosperity Bank office is at 930 Blanding Blvd. in the Ridgeview Shopping Plaza, also near College and Blanding.

Pam Anderson, the Orange Park branch manager, said five people staff the office, the first for Prosperity Bank in Clay County. The move into the area seemed like a natural one for the St. Augustine-based bank, she said.

"We're already in Volusia, St. Johns, Duval and Lake counties, so this was the next place for us to go," she said. "It's a growing area, and we like to be in a growing area. We're a growing bank. This was the perfect opportunity for us."

Fleming gets Zaxby's

Another Zaxby's is coming to the Orange Park area, with this one slated for Fleming Island.

Construction is under way on the newest Zaxby's, known especially for its chicken fingers and Buffalo wings, at 1525 County Road 220, just east of Winn-Dixie. Opening is planned for early spring, with about 40 new jobs on tap at the site.

The Fleming Island Zaxby's will be the second Clay County restaurant for Susan Satterfield and Jeanne Ward, who also own the Zaxby's at 390 Blanding Blvd.

They will share ownership in this newest location with Satterfield's daughter, Jessica Powell, and her fiance, Ron Gosselin. Satterfield and Ward also own a Zaxby's at 9575 Regency Square Blvd. N. in Jacksonville.

The owners were drawn to Zaxby's because of its family-oriented theme, and say they plan to carry through on that theme in their Fleming Island restaurant. …
