THE family of one of the British suicide bombers today said they were "shocked" by a video showing him brandishing a machinegun before his fatal mission.

Asif Hanif, 22, killed three people when he blew himself up at a Tel Aviv bar last year, but his family has until now maintained he was not a suicide bomber.

Today, speaking from his semidetached home in Hounslow, Hanif 's brother - who asked not to be named - said: "Yes, we have heard about the video and seen our brother in it. The family is in shock and cannot believe it was him.

As far as we knew he wasn't into that kind of stuff."

Hanif appears in the video with Omar Khan Sharif, 27, a married father of two from Derby. They are shown rejoicing in the mayhem they are about to unleash, denouncing George Bush and Tony Blair and calling on Muslims to kill Jews.

The video, released by Palestinian terror group Hamas yesterday, was filmed shortly before the Britons launched an attack which killed three and injured 55 on 30 April last year.

Hanif blew himself up at Mike's Place bar in Tel Aviv, and Sharif ran off after failing to detonate explosives strapped to his chest. His body was later found washed up on the shore.

The video has provoked anger in Israel and has led to calls for action against extremists in the UK.

In the video, the pair grin and laugh as they talk of their mission. Hanif begins: "What can I say? The real terrorists are those Israelis.

They're really sickos... Muslims are being killed every day. It is an honour to kill one of those people [Jews]." He recites from the Koran and calls on Muslims everywhere to be "people of action" by fighting Israel.

Hamas says it held the video back for security reasons but it also seems designed to attract foreign fighters.

"You Muslims are sitting in your houses, watching what is happening to your brothers in Palestine," says Hanif. …
