A look at some of the items to be considered by the Jacksonville City Council at its 6 p.m. meeting today at City Hall, 117 W. Duval St.

ISSUE: Economic incentives

What it means: Would approve a $66,000 loan and a $10,000 grant from the Northwest Jacksonville Economic Development Fund to Bodie Electrical Contractors. The company plans to buy and renovate a facility at 6001 Cleveland Road near Edgewood Avenue. The company, which specializes in electrical installation and repairs for commercial and residential customers, has 10 full-time employees and plans to add six more within three years. The total cost of the project would be $205,045.

Action: Recommended for approval.

ISSUE: Haydon Burns City Hall Annex

What it means: Would change the name of the current City Hall Annex to the Haydon Burns City Hall Annex, honoring the late former Jacksonville mayor and Florida governor. The Main Library is now named after Burns but will be replaced by a new $95 million building at the end of the year. …
