The shame of drug dealing on Teesside: The message sent out today by local police chiefs is stark: those who deal in drugs on Teesside will face stiff jail sentences.

There's another message for the same criminals from both Cleveland Police and the Evening Gazette: anyone so convicted will also face high-profile publicity for their vile crimes in this newspaper.

As today's story demonstrates, the Gazette will work closely with the force to make sure that as many such cases as possible are tracked through the courts, with pictures issued by police used in the front end of the paper.

From Marske alone, four dealers have been sent down for a total of 14 years for peddling heroin in the last four weeks.
