Well-wishers are pulling out the stops to help a disabled teenager.

A rock 'n' roll concert and a sale of art prints are the latest efforts to help 15-year-old Daniel Woodhouse.

He suffers from Morquio's Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder which stops the skeleton growing.

Surgical complications have left him quadriplegic and he needs a ventilator for the rest of his life.

He is being treated at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, but his parents want to arrange 24-hour care and adaptations for him to return to their Stainton home.

Fine art student Ken Marshall, 62, of Carisbrooke Avenue, Thorntree, wants to have his abstract pictures enlarged and sold for the appeal.

He said: "It just hit my heart reading about it."

He organised a pie and pea afternoon which raised pounds 100.

A family fun day, organised by street wardens, will be held in Stewart Park on April 17.

A "red and white day" at Danny's school, the Newlands Catholic School FCJ, raised pounds 800. …
