My local Victim Support office in Cowgate is being closed down because of lack of funding. The staff there have been a great deal of help to me and my partner as we have been victims of crime on many occasions. It's not just emotional support they give, but very valuable advice too. But because of a lack of financial support, the local office will have to close. There will be a main office in Newcastle but it won't be the same. I am absolutely gutted because the office I'm talking about really turned our life around with practical advice and emotional support. I wish Tony Blair, instead of fighting other people's wars, would look to his own country and get things like this put right. I'd like to wish the staff in the Cowgate office all the best for the future and hope they find jobs elsewhere.

I WOULD like to comment on increasing amounts of graffiti appearing all over Newcastle city centre. Everywhere you look, buildings and property have been defaced. There are CCTV cameras everywhere so how does this vandalism go undetected?

WELL, the new law came in last week and I spotted the first today. Yes a new box junction has appeared on the West Road. Can we now expect every busy junction in the land to have these money-making traps installed? By the way, I'd like to ask Tony's local toadies on the council to comment on this scenario. If I pulled up at the lights with a box junction to turn right, my exit is clear, so I pull into the middle of the road but the oncoming traffic turns left and blocks my path. …
