Newcastle Eagles are aiming high as they home in on play-off glory, (writes Paul New).

Four of the Eagles' six remaining regular season fixtures are at the Arena - beginning this weekend with back-to-back games against basement clubs Birmingham tonight (7.30) and Leicester on Sunday (5.30).

And Fab Flournoy's men, sixth in the BBL table, have not given up a top-four finish to ensure home advantage in the first round of the play-offs.

Flournoy said: "I want us to finish as high as we possibly can.

"Third is a long shot but that is what we are shooting for.

"I don't want us to fall short by just aiming to make the play-offs as a fourth or fifth seed."

Complacency against the also-rans in the BBL has been a problem for the Eagles at time this season and Flournoy knows his side must guard against this going into two games which, ominously, his side are expected to win.

Birmingham have won only one of their 32 league games - and that was against fellow no-hopers Leicester who have fared little better with a five and 26 record. …
