PSV Clash Will Bring Happy Memories

Sir Bobby Robson is relishing a return to one of his previous clubs after seeing Newcastle United set up a UEFA Cup quarter-final clash with PSV Eindhoven early next month.

United will go to Holland for their first leg on April 8 after they won 3-0 against Real Mallorca in the Son Moix Stadium last night to complete an impressive 7-1 aggregate victory.

A delighted Sir Bobby said: "I'm pleased it's PSV. I'll look forward to going back there because they are a great club with a lot of good people and it was a happy time in my life when I was working there.

"We had them watched in their first game against Auxerre when they drew 1-1. We actually had a sneaking feeling that Auxerre may come through over the two legs but PSV had a great result in the second leg, and we'll look forward to a big test against them.

"I felt we did well in our game against Mallorca. We weren't so good in the first half and at times our back four was all over the place.

"But we had a word at half-time and we couldn't have asked for a better start to the second when their goalkeeper gave Alan a present, which he took. I think they lost a lot of heart then and knew the tie was over at that stage.

"It was comfortable for us after that. It was good to see Craig get the goal, and Alan deserved another one at the end because he was kicked all night by the centre-half, who got away with murder, to be honest. …
