Maxine Carr Appears in Court on Fraud Charges

Article excerpt

Maxine Carr, the ex-fiancee of Soham murderer Ian Huntley, arrived at court today to answer allegations of benefit fraud and lying about her qualifications in job applications.

Carr, 27, arrived in a prison van at Peterborough Magistrates' Court in a high security police operation.

Barriers lined the roads to the court where the former primary school teaching assistant was answering seven allegations of deception and five of attempted deception.

The charges relate to claims for housing benefit, income support and job-seeker's allowance and applications for various jobs.

It is believed that her next court hearing will be by video link from Holloway Prison in north London. …
