A well-balanced field of eight compete in the $35,000 Clay County Classic tonight at the Orange Park Kennel Club.

All eight greyhounds won a race in the qualifying rounds, and six tied for third with 44 qualifying points, a rare feat for a stakes race.

Dustin the Way was installed as the morning-line 5-2 favorite after drawing the No. 2 box. The race winner receives $17,500.

"With the inside draw, he should have the cleanest race without running into the other dogs," track announcer Shane Bolender said.

Dustin the Way, who runs for the D.Q. Williams Kennel, was one of the six greyhounds that tied for third in qualifying, after a pair of wins and a third. On March 17, he set a track 5/16-mile record of 30.17 seconds. The previous 11-year record of 30.21 was held by ML Top Royalty.

Mayor's Cup winner Just Kickin It drew the No. 7 box. Just Kickin won three qualifying races and was the qualifying points leader with 54.

Just Kickin It would earn an additional $10,000 in prize money for his second win in the Jacksonville Grand Slam. …
