Smash Biker Dies in Hospital

Article excerpt

A biker has died after a horrific crash in East Cleveland.

David Rowe, 66, was riding his Yamaha machine when it was involved in the crash with a tractor and a van on Yearby Bank between Kirkleatham and Dunsdale.

Mr Rowe, of Guisborough, was rushed to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, after the collision on April 5.

But despite treatment he died at the weekend.

A Cleveland Police spokesman said: "Mr Rowe sustained serious injuries and despite medical treatment at James Cook University Hospital failed to recover and died on Saturday morning."

Mr Rowe was widowed last year and is not thought to have immediate family in the area.

There is an appeal for anyone who has not already been spoken to by police to come forward.

Traffic police particularly want to speak to anyone who saw the vehicles before the crash.

Call PC Russ Jordan on 01642 301552 or 301580.

Mr Rowe's death is the latest in a string of biker tragedies on the region's roads. …
