Talbot Lad Has Plenty More Left in the Tank

Trainer Steve Brookshaw was well pleased when Talbot Lad landed a third victory of the season at Ludlow yesterday and he reckons there is more to come.

Talbot Lad took up the running on the run to the fourth-last in the Bromfield Sand & Gravel Handicap Chase, but Jason Maguire had to get serious when Kind Sir made a renewed challenge.

Eventually he won by four lengths, after which Brookshaw said: "We asked him a question today as he was a novice taking on handicappers, and he answered well.

"He is going the right way. He had a breathing operation before the start of the season and although it was not serious, it had to be done.

"He loves fast ground, and hopefully we will pick up a few more races with him."

The eight-year-old had fallen at the first in the amateur riders' race immediately after the Martell Cognac Grand National on Saturday, but bounced right back.

A first attempt over three miles held no fears for Analogy, who coasted to a five-length victory in the Robert Holden Novices' Hurdle. …
