The public is being asked to give views on proposed changes to a mental health unit in Middlesbrough.

The Tees and North East Yorkshire NHS Trust Public and Patient Involvement Forum will hold its first public meeting on Thursday from 2pm to 4pm.

The meeting, at the Linthorpe Community Centre, Linthorpe Road, will welcome opinions about the proposals for the Parkside Community Mental Health Resource Centre.

The trust plans to review the use of the complex, in partnership with Middlesbrough social services and involving patients, carers and staff.

Options include using it for people in a crisis, and developing specialist mental health or learning disability services.

A Forum spokesman said: "We believe this facility is highly valued by its patients because they can have their needs met under one roof and in a community setting, including in-patient beds when needed.

"Many people from Parkside have lobbied our forum to become involved. …
