The first leg of the Northern Area's Easter Hunt Racing Festival takes place today at Alnwick with the Percy fixture which has 97 entries on a six race card starting at 2pm.

The highlight is the four-mile Persimmon Homes Mixed Open with record prize money of u500. My idea of the winner is Passing Danger, owned by Duncan Davidson who is chairman of the sponsoring company and ridden as usual by his daughter, Rose.

The nine-year-old, already successful this term at Friars Haugh and Crossford, has a high cruising speed and should be suited by the marathon trip as he finished like a train when a close third to Parade Racer over three miles five furlongs at Corbridge last month.

Stormalong was only beaten around five lengths when fourth to the Cincinnati Kid at Crossford two weeks ago and, with this track more to his liking, can step up on that effort by opening his account in the three mile Maiden.

Anniejo would be a popular first winner of the season for George White's Rennington yard in the two and a half mile Maiden. …
